Abstract

From an early age, children begin to develop their spatial thinking by exploring their environment, acquiring informal knowledge about space. This study aims to design and validate a tool to assess spatial thinking in childhood. The methodology followed consists of three phases: instrument design, content validation by a panel of experts, and application to a pilot sample. The results showed agreement among the expert committee on all items, except for three of them where changes were suggested towards manipulative situations and adjustments in some aids. It is concluded that the application to the pilot sample confirmed the relevance of the changes proposed by the experts and allowed refining the way of communicating the instructions for each item.
