Abstract

This paper presents an extension of the Configural Reasoning model for the analysis of the resolution of empirical problems of geometry, in which the initial data are numerical or literal. The extension of the Configural Reasoning model consists in the extension of the Operative and Discursive Apprehensions meanings and the acceptance of the use of the algebraic register in the discourse generated during the resolution of empirical geometry problems with pencil and paper. The inclusion of the algebraic register in the model is based on the concepts of conversion and treatment of the Semiotic Systems of Duval theory. We analyzed several resolutions to an empirical problem with the new Extended Configural Reasoning model to show its potential.
